7 books that should be turned into movies

As most know, the newest book to film adaption our society face is Fifty Shades of Grey. I know people who hate the novel with a passion and I know people know adore it like a naughty toy. Both sides have their reasons and I don’t judge either one. People will like what they like because it brings them personal joy.

People enjoy reading because they love discovering characters who relate to them and who they could pretend to be. For example, I enjoy the Games of Throne series, but I have friends who wouldn’t dare touch the novel. But it doesn’t bother me because it’s what I enjoy and their approval shouldn’t make a difference to me.

There are many fantastic books we pray day and night that should be made into movies. We love the idea of seeing our favorite characters on the big screen, giving the world a chance to see their greatest traits.

You want them to fall in love with your favorite character the same way you did. For some of us, that wish did come true. I know there’s hundreds of books that would be one of the best movies out today, but today, I want to cut that list down to the top 5 books that should be turned into movies.

1. The Secret History by Donna Tartt:the secret history

In this book, not only will you experience a hot young adult story, but you would have most of the flavors you enjoy in film and books such as mystery and murder.

2. Lush Life: A Novel By Richard Price: Lush Life

If you enjoy movies with high pack adventures, this novel is just for you. This is a story about two Lower East Sides where one is a high-priced bohemia as the other is a home to hardship.

It’s residents pushed to the edges of their time-honored turf and when a cocky young hipster is shot to death by a street kid from the “other” lower east side, the crime ripples through every stratum of the city in this brilliant portrait of the “new” New York. If people enjoyed Gangs of New York, the Godfather, or Scarface, this is a book they’ll love to see in action.

3. The Gunslinger: The Dark Tower: The gunslinger

Even though a variety of Stephen King books have been turned into hit movies, there are many people, including me, who believe that “The Dark Tower” series can become one of the hottest movies in blockbuster history. That is, if the right director was placed in charge of it and did it for more than his love for money.

4. Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy:

Rainbow six

As a teenager, I used to admire Tom Clancy novels, and this is a piece that many fans have been yearning to be turned into a film for years. It is a book that directors toss into the air and then take away the hope from fans of all ages that they will not do the movie. It is rather a dark tale that many people would appreciate and tells a story that will be one of the best suspense stories you’ve ever encountered.

5. The Woman Upstairs by Claire Messud: the woman upstairs

This is a type of book that caused many people to challenge the author because she presented a very unlikable female protagonist, and yet has proven to be a bestseller none the less.

This is the type of book that needs to be adapted into a film because it’ll be the type of psychological film that would resemble a classic Hitchcock film. This is a very savvy novel that has a brilliant plot constructed and causes you to repeatedly gasp at what the protagonist is doing.

6. A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole: the confed

I was a little jiffy before reading this story because I didn’t think I would like it. But many readers had suggested it, so I took a breath and dived right into it.

And come to my surprise, I really enjoyed it and understood why they wanted this book to be made into a movie. It’s the tale of a New Orleans man living an ordinary life in a sense.

But what makes the book so fascinating is its realistic details to real life. And not in the way that he’s trying to survive, struggling to meet end goals, or whatever. It’s just about a regular guy living a simple life, having characteristics that many people would relate to. If this book was made into a movie, it would be a very entertaining/funny one to ever see.

7. 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez: 100 years

This story recounts seven generations of the Buendi family, who founded the town of Macondo, making it a type of utopia. However, as the generations past, the two goes through a series of extraordinary and unfortunate events, which the family appears to be unable to escape from.

Not only could this novel be adapted into a film, but it can become a television show as well. It’s filled with many surprising events, thrillers, a shroud of mysteriousness and magical realism that makes it seem like you’re stepping into a dream. It is truly a novel that could spark the world if cast correctly.

In final thoughts….

Overall, any book could be adapted into either a TV show or film and be very successful.  You’re already aware of the variety of movies that proven that.

But you have to remind yourself that even though a director may want to adapt a book we love into a movie, we have to hope they have the same passion too because it could end up Eragon, Alex Cross, Percy Jackson, or The Last Airbender (I know it was a TV show, but I’m still very angry about that). So, next time you feel like asking your reader friends random questions, ask them what book they would like be turned into a movie.
